Northernmost part of Croatia, not so far from capitol Zagreb is a land of hills and medieval castles. Word Zagorje literally means “beyond mountain”, it is a unique region of Croatia and a great place to visit and explore - picturesque green hills and intact nature was petrfect spots for some manor houses, forts and castles. Some of castles are more famous, some of it less. But, they all got one thing in common; you will never hear dull, boring stories about them. 

There were around a thousand castles in the 18th century, and there's still around 180 of them. The Croatian region Zagorje holds some of the prettiest ones...
